The candidate should have, at a minimum, 2-4 years of dedicated experience in most or all of the following: (1) all aspects of trademark portfolio management, including counseling, clearance and prosecution; (2) trademark enforcement, including development enforcement strategies, negotiating settlement agreements, and supporting TTAB proceedings; (3) transactional IP matters, such as negotiation of license agreements; and (4) copyright matters. Additional experience in one or more of the following is also highly desirable: (1) domain name portfolio management and domain name enforcement, including UDRP complaints and similar proceedings; (2) social media strategy and enforcement in connection with usage of trademarks and brand-related elements; and (3) Internet policy matters, including ICANN-related issues.
Our ideal candidate would have a solid foundation in United States and global trademark portfolio management with some exposure to digital brand protection and/or Internet and other intellectual property policy matters. Fully remote work would be available for the time being, although the candidate would be welcome to work from our DC or New York offices if preferred, and should ultimately be able to work from or regularly visit our DC or New York offices. The candidate must be a member of the DC Bar, or a member of another state bar and willing and able to become barred in DC. At least some prior experience must be in private practice, with a track record for providing excellent client service.
