In 2018, Winterfeldt IP Group Founder and Principal Brian Winterfeldt was appointed to serve as a Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) panelist for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The UDRP, an administrative proceeding that allows brand owners to recover or disable infringing domain names in an efficient and cost-effective manner, is a key rights protection mechanism for brand protection on the Internet. Brian will be attending and speaking at WIPO’s annual program for UDRP panelists, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland from October 8-10, 2018. During the WIPO Domain Name Panelists Meeting on October 8, Brian will be presenting a session on GDPR issues. The meeting will continue with the WIPO Advanced Workshop on Domain Name Dispute Resolution: Update on Precedent and Practice, an intensive program focusing on trends in WIPO decisions and procedural updates, on October 9-10.
