Terri Doud

Terri Doud, Of Counsel with Winterfeldt IP Group, has nearly three decades of experience as an intellectual property attorney. She has divided her career among various private practice and in-house roles, where she managed intellectual property portfolios and teams for some of the world’s largest brands. In addition, Terri has worked in legal academia, serving as a professor at the University of Miami School of Law.

At Winterfeldt IP Group, Terri provides guidance on a variety of trademark and related matters, including the full spectrum of trademark portfolio management, transactional matters such as license agreements, and copyright matters. Her extensive in-house experience allows her to anticipate and provide the specific advice clients need to make complex business decisions efficiently and cost-effectively. In addition, with over a decade of experience in heavily regulated industries such as spirits and financial services, Terri is able to provide specialized guidance on the unique intellectual property needs of organizations that have heightened consumer protection considerations. As an attorney who has served at the senior leadership level in her in-house roles, Terri is also able to connect seamlessly with executive teams and to understand the global business implications of legal decisions.

Throughout her career, Terri has played an integral role in building entire global IP programs themselves, giving her expertise not just in trademarks but also copyright, patents, trade secrets, and how their interconnected nature builds a cohesive IP protection program. Terri’s background in managing complex technical matters ensures that she is prepared to address cutting-edge IP concerns in all industries. Her deep in-house experience ensures she is able to address intellectual property protection strategies from a practical business perspective that moves clients’ initiatives forward in a cost-effective manner while diligently mitigating risk.

In addition to her intellectual property practice, Terri is dedicated to DEI activities in the legal community, as well as pro bono service. She is a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), and also serves on the Judicial Nominations Committee of APABA-MD. Terri also serves on the Board for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Baltimore City, Maryland.
