Our recent article, published in the World Trademark Review's blog, provides a summary of key developments from ICANN 68, which took place as a virtual meeting from June 22-25, 2020. Topics of greatest importance for brand owners included which generally focused on enhancing anti-abuse efforts within the DNS, continued efforts to implement the ICANN domain name registration data consensus policy, efforts to reach consensus on lingering policy questions for future new gTLD rounds, and efforts to finalise recommendations for Phase 1 of the rights protection mechanism review.
